Dear Friends,

I regret to inform you In light of recent studies, it has been determined that the population of the Dreadnaught will not have access to any form of contraceptives. The reasons for this are twofold:

First, the ship has limited medical supplies. It has been deemed necessary to reserve birth control for medicinal purposes. Women who are currently prescribed birth control for health reasons will continue to receive monitored access.

Second, the population cannot sustain itself given the range of ages on board coupled with expected longevity in these conditions. Therefore, to preserve our species, we must breed. Currently, officials are estimating childbirth quotas per capita; further information is forthcoming. Previous progeny alive on board do count toward this sum. A federal adoption program will be available for those who do not wish to raise their own children. Once your maximum has been reached, you may qualify for sterility procedures through consult with authorities and your doctors. There are other exceptions; if you think you may qualify you can request that your personal situation be evaluated. Most requests will not be honored for reasons outlined above.

Because this situation is so dire, there will be strict penalties for anyone caught attempting to perform or receive an abortion unless a life is at risk. Counselors will soon be available to further explain what this entails, as will pamphlets posted in most of the ship's common areas.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and maturity. And thank you for your contribution to the human race.

Who is the pilot that saved me and five others from the ground just as the ship took off?

We were too quickly transported from mechanical fists to medical hands, and I did not catch a face, number, rank or name. Gratitude is greatly overdue, but I've only just been assigned one of these convenient network devices. Bedrest is about to get a lot less boring.

Speaking of which, there is a man sharing my hospital room; he was our escort and stepped out first to fight the rubes that took our transport. He seems to be lacking ID, and as he remains prejudicially unconscious, I'd like to know if there are friends or family who may be able to identify him to abate my curiosity so that proper dues may be given. He is alive and stable but unresponsive; television leads me to think a familiar voice might change that.
